Doomed through stupidity

Sometimes humanity displays so much stupidity I don't know whether to pity it or to bitchslap it.

-- "Zero energy homes" are unpopular even though they pay for themselves in seven to twelve years through cutting electric bills to almost nothing.

-- GM carefully self-sabotaged their electric car program the minute it was no long federally mandated, despite the fact that they developed a product that users wanted to keep.

Lets see, so the buyers are irrational and short-sighted. The sellers are irrational and short-sighted. What are the chances that the market in green technology can be functional?
