Let the eeeaagle sooooar
For some reason, I'm very fond of John Ashcroft's masterpiece "Let the Eagle Soar". Gene can be seen pulling his hair out whenever I burst forth with an impromptu rendition (much more fun than extraordinary renditions) of this, which means I should really quit it before he ends up as follically challenged as some of his uncles.
"Let the Eagle soar, like she's never soared before..." There's no real tune there, but Ashcroft delivers with such swagger anyhow. The words, meanwhile, are a unsophisticated mishmash of patriotic imagery set to a repetitive AAAA rhyme structure.
Not a bad metaphor for most of the crap conservatives have been serving up during the Bush administration, really.
