It seems that the good Reverend was willing to stand by his previous inflammatory statements up to a point; that point being where the Israeli tourism board cuts him out of negotiations over plans for a theme park on the Sea of Galilee. Now that the promise of all those tourist dollars is getting assumed into Heaven and out of his graspy little hands, Robertson is furiously backpedaling from his claim that Sharon's stroke was divine retribution.

It pleases me to see that the Israelis aren't biting. He's crossed the line one too many times.
